Amatiteña Añejo Tequila Review

Amatiteña’s blanco sparked a lot of debate among VinePair tasters. None argued against the quality of the spirit, but its decidedly complex profile (think: savory mezcal sans smoke) led some to question whether most drinkers want their tequila to taste this way. (If this sounds appealing to you, though, you should definitely pick up a bottle.) Regardless, this añejo shows that time in oak has helped tame some of the base spirit’s more esoteric characteristics, unleashing strong flavors of mint and spent charcoals.
