The Story Behind The Last Word

The Negroni gets a lot of attention as everyone’s favorite equal-parts cocktail. If you prefer a gin drink that’s more herbal and refreshing, however, consider the Last Word. It’s made with gin, green Chartreuse, and fresh lime, plus Maraschino liqueur for a touch of sweetness.

This Prohibition-era cocktail is easy to make since, like the Negroni, all ingredients are added in equal proportion. This also makes it a great option to batch for larger groups. For those who have never had a Last Word, it’s time to get acquainted. The drink holds a spot on the list of the world’s 50 most popular cocktails. Now, read more about the other 49.
